Fire Code and Reporting

Fire Investigation and Fire Code
The SPSA conducts fire investigations within its mandate and identifies roles and responsibilities. The agency also has trained personnel who offer fire code advice to responding agencies and the general public.

Fire Service Minimum Standards
The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) released the Fire Service Minimum Standards Guide in May 2022. The guide was created by the SPSA, in consultation with the Saskatchewan Association of Fire Chiefs, the Saskatchewan Volunteer Fire Fighters Association, and the Provincial Training Standards Committee, with a focus on making firefighting safer in Saskatchewan by developing a written set of minimum standards for three levels of service, based on training and equipment capacities.

PPSTN Radio
The SPSA provides a secure, reliable and affordable public safety radio communications system called the Provincial Public Safety Telecommunications Network (PPSTN), which allows first responders such as fire departments, police services, EMS, and volunteer search and rescue groups with one radio system that allows them to talk directly to each other during times of emergency.
